New Kia cee'd starts at £14,395  21 | 05 | 2012

KIA'S ALL-NEW CEE'D will go on sale in Scottish dealerships from June 1, with prices ranging from £14,395 to £23,595.

And Kia bosses are confident the second generation cee'd will take the company “into an altogether different league” in comparison to the first model. The first cee'd not only pioneered the seven-year warranty, but it paved the way for growth in Europe.

The new model has been penned by chief designed Peter Schreyer, along with a team led by European design chief Gregory Guillaume.

Schreyer's switch to Kia from Audi — he was instrumental in the design of the TT — coincided with the debut of the original cee'd in Paris in 2006. As a result, he was only able to influence small details on the first generation.

The new cee'd will have four engines available at launch – 1.4- and 1.6-litre diesels from Kia’s U2 family, and petrol engines of similar capacity from the Gamma range.

    Roadtest: Kia Optima

The 1.6-litre diesel with ISG can achieve — according to Kia — 76mpg, with CO2 emissions from 97g/km, depending on the wheel and tyre combination. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, though a six-speed auto is an option. The CO2 emissions of the 1.6 CRDi automatic are 145g/km.

The cee'd is also available in five trim grades – named ‘1’, ‘2’, ‘3’ and ‘4’ with the option of a ‘4 Tech’ version of Cee’d ‘4’.

All feature electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjustment and a height-adjustable driver’s seat, aircon, steering wheel-mounted controls, front electric windows, projection headlights, daytime running lights, remote central locking, a cooled glovebox, a flat-folding 60:40 split rear seat, ambient front lighting, an iPod-compatible audio system with radio and CD player, USB port and Bluetooth connectivity, ESP and VSM, HAC (Hill-start Assist Control), six airbags and speed-sensitive auto door locking.

Buyers of the new generation cee'd will also be able to buy a Care-3 service package. Costing £299, it covers the first three services, or for £549 which covers the first five services.

Both packages cover the car, not the owner, so are transferable should the vehicle be sold.

If a vehicle with a Care-3 package is sold on then the next owner may upgrade to the five year service package. The cost of the vehicle’s first MoT test fee can be included for an additional £30.
