New X-Trail starts at £22,995 02 | 05 | 2014

SCOTS NISSAN DEALERS will start sales of the all-new X-Trail in July, with prices starting at £22,995 for the five-seat 2WD Visia: that's £2600 cheaper than the previous entry-model.

All models are powered by Nissan's 127bhp 1.6cDi engine which, in 2WD models, delivers 57.6mpg and 129g/km.

The new X-Trail will be available in a choice of four trim levels — Visia, Acenta, n-tec and Tekna — and in both 2WD and 4WD forms.

Nissan's aggressive pricing strategy also sees the five-seat 2WD Acenta, which is expected to be the most popular model in the range, costs just £24,795, £800 less than the outgoing entry level Acenta.

Visia models get 17in alloys, plus a signature strip of LED daytime running lights. Inside there's Bluetooth and an MP3-compatible sound system with AUX-IN, zircon, heated door mirrors, follow-me-home lighting and an electric parking brake included as standard.

There's also a 5in TFT colour display incorporating 12 graphic displays accessible on rotation. These offer advice and warnings including average and actual speeds, navigation turn-by-turn instructions, audio content, traffic sign recognition, eco driving advice and torque distribution settings in 4WD mode.

Stepping up to the Acenta, which starts at £24,795, brings privacy glass, dual zone climate control, electric folding mirrors, a power sunroof, automatic lights and wipers, plus front and rear parking sensors as standard.

Visia and Acenta models come with the option of a Smart Vision Pack. Costing £495 in Visia spec, you get automatic lights, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition and front and rear parking sensors to the standard equipment. The Acenta Smart Vision Pack, at £450, adds High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Emergency Braking and Traffic Sign Recognition to the standard specs.

Buyers opting for the n-tec, which starts at £27,295, get everything included on the Acenta with Smart Vision Pack, plus a wealth of additional goodies including 19in alloys, intelligent i-Key locking with push-button ignition, DAB radio, roof rails, power tailgate, Around View Monitor giving 360-degree view around the car and the latest generation NissanConnect system with smartphone integration and built-in apps.

The range-topping Tekna, which is priced from £29,295, adds Bi-LED headlamps, heated leather seats and an electric driver’s seat with lumbar support. A number of additional safety features such as a Blind Spot Warning and Driver Attention Alert are also included, as is Nissan’s ingenious Park Assist automatic parking feature.

For an extra 700 quid, you can also have the optional third row of seats which increases occupancy to seven.
