Porsche unveils new GTS models 19 | 03 | 2014

PORSCHE HAS INTRODUCED two two-range-topping Cayman and Boxster models. The cars, based on the Cayman S and Boxster S, are both badged GTS and get more power and performance, plus revised styling and dynamic changes.

Both GTS models get the 3.4-litre flat six engine, which pumps out 15bhp more than the S variants: that means 335bhp for the Cayman GTS and 325bhp for the Boxster GTS. Both engines now conform to the latest, more stringent Euro 6 emissions standards.

And while both cars get a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, a seven-speed dual-clutch auto is available as an option.

Fitted with the auto 'box, the Cayman GTS hits 62mph from standstill in 4.6sec and the Boxster GTS (pictured) taking 4.7sec. The new, higher maximum speed — the Cayman GTS is capable of 177mph, while the Boxster GTS can hit 175mph — are achieved with the manual 'box.

Both cars benefit from a number of dynamic upgrades and packages. While the Porsche Active Suspension Management system (PASM) brings lowered suspension and electronically controlled adaptive dampers, the cars also get the Sport Chrono package, which sharpens vehicle responses.

Car geeks will do well to spot the subtle external design tweaks which mark the GTS versions from their S-badged rivals.

Both the Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS get revised front and rear bumpers, blackened bi-xenon lights and 20in Carrera S alloys fitted with 235/35 tyres at the front and 265/35 tyres at the rear. Both cabins also get sports seats and a leather interior with Alcantara trim.

On sale at Porsche showrooms from May, the Boxster GTS costs £52,879, with the Cayman GTS £55,397.
