New Ferrari California T 04 | 03 | 2014

FERRARI UNVEILED ITS new 552bhp California T convertible at today's Geneva Motor Show. It's expected to cost around the same as the current California, at £152,154. The new California T gets a low-mounted direct-injection 552bhp, 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine (see more official photos of the new Ferrari California T).

According to the Italian supercar maker, it can accelerate from rest to 62mph in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 196mph.

And apparently, the California T — which boasts 70bhp over the original California — has almost no turbo lag and turbo boost, and torque increases with every upshift.

Fuel consumption has been improved by 15%, bringing it up to around 27mpg: CO2 emissions have also been reduced to 250g/km, helped by a stop-start system, and a significant reduction from the 270g/km of the outgoing car.

Thankfully, the car also has impeccable stopping powers: with its new carbon-ceramic brakes, it'll come to a complete halt from 62mph in 34 metres. It also benefits from an upgraded suspension setup, featuring new springs and the latest generation of Magnaride dampers, which work 50%faster than before.

As a result – according to Ferrari — the California T handles better than before, with a more comfortable ride.

The car's interior has also been significantly upgraded with a new leather trim, new 6.5in central touchscreen infotainment system and aTurbo Performance Engineer, a seperate touch-controlled screen showing engine data. Also present are the usual buttons for engaging Race mode and Launch Control.

Ferrari has also announced its collaboration with Apple with the integration of the Apple Carplay multimedia system. Bosses say the Ferrari FF will be the first car in the world to be equipped with the system, which mirrors the iPhone's apps, including mapping, audio and social meeds, on the touchscreen.

Orders for the California T have opened at the Geneva show, with first UK deliveries expected in September.
