Scot scoops lucky Alfa win 03 | 06 | 2014

ONE LUCKY SCOT has just snapped up a brand new Alfa Romeo Giulietta for the 1954 price tag of the original Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint … the princely sum of just £1250.

Learning support teacher Christine Mitchell from Falkirk was the lucky winner of a prize draw, run by Alfa Romeo UK to celebrate the iconic model’s 60th anniversary.

Over the period of April 7-22 — the period which coincided with the original Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint being first unveiled to the public on April 19, 1954, at the Turin Motor Show — all customers who ordered a new Alfa Romeo Giulietta were entered into the draw. The prize? One customer would receive a refund of the difference between the 1954 and 2014 OTR prices.

Christine — who ordered her car from Western Alfa Romeo Edinburgh, and received her cheque from Western sales manager Craig McKenzie — happily collected the keys to her brand new Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.4TB MultiAir 170 hp Exclusive and can now consider what she'll do with the £16,250 she's saved.

“Alfa Romeo is an iconic and hugely passionate brand," Craig (pictured with Christine Mitchell) said "We're very pleased to be able to present Christine with her new Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.4 TB MultiAir 170hp Exclusive at such an amazing price in celebration of the anniversary. We're sure she will have many happy miles of motoring ahead of her."

And Christine's good fortune was further welcomed by Ivan Gibson, head of brand, Alfa Romeo UK.

“We would like to congratulate Mrs Mitchell on her wonderful win," he said. "When the iconic Alfa Romeo Giulietta was revealed to the world for the first time, it was a vehicle that epitomised the style of the era.

"We are incredibly proud of the heritage that the Alfa Romeo Giulietta carries with it and what better way to celebrate this landmark anniversary than with fond recognition of where it all began?”

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta has been extensively revised for 2014 and now benefits from new interiors with redesigned seats, new fabric and leather upholsteries, new engines, improved standard specification across the range plus new technologies such as the Uconnect colour touch screen infotainment system and DAB radio as standard across the models.
