£2.8m Veneno makes public debut 10 | 01 | 2014

LAMBORGHINI HAS DISPLAYED its £2.79 million Veneno roadster for the first time in public. The car, of which just nine models will be built, was shown at the CES electronics show in Las Vegas.

According to the Italian supercar maker, the roofless Veneno roadster's “design is focused on optimum aerodynamics and stability through fast corners – with handling akin to that of a racing prototype. Yet it is fully road legal."

Powered by a mid-mounted 6.5-litre V12 developing 740bhp, which is mated to a semi-automatic gearbox with five shift modes, the four-wheel drive speedster is capable of 0-62mph time of 2.9sec and a top speed of 220mph.

And while the flat underside of the 1490kg hypercar incorporates a “sizeable” rear diffuser, the front end is said to act as a huge wing.

Further design aspects, aimed specifically at keeping the car on the road, include an adjustable rear wing and a carbonfibre ring around the wheels that create a turbine effect providing cooling to the brake discs.
