New sporty 281bhp Evoque 18 | 02 | 2014

LAND ROVER HAS released details of its new sportier Range Rover Evoque, the Autobiography Dynamic, which benefits from increased power and more dynamic handling. It's due in Scotland in the final quarter of this year (see more official photos of the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic).

The Evoque Autobiography Dynamic — available in both three- and five-door bodystyles — gets an upgraded version of the existing 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, meaning a whopping 281bhp, and 295lb/ft, that's an increase of 44lb/ft.

And the power is delivered even quicker to the four-wheel drive system via a recalibrated nine-speed ZF automatic gearbox,

Steering speed has also been improved, with Land Rover stating it's been “specially tuned for greater on-centre precision”. Ah, ok.

It also promises to sit even snugger to the road. Land Rover engineers have tweaked the suspension geometry and added firmer springs and recalibrated dampers.

What does that mean? Well, again according to Land Rover, "increased agility and turn-in response, without impacting on ride quality".

Thankfully, the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic also gets the ‘Active’ version of the Evoque’s all-wheel drive system and Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVB) as standard. And just for good measure, there's also upgraded 350mm front brake discs.

Aesthetically, the 'Dynamic' also gets a new-look grille and lower front valance. Plus, there's 20in forged alloys and a unique Phoenix Orange paint finish.

Inside the cabin there’s a choice of six leather trim colours, along with the option of sports or premium climate seats.

The car's got all techie too: it comes with Land Rover's InControl app which, when downloaded to a smartphone, will allow the driver to operate apps on a connected Apple or Android device via the vehicle’s touchscreen.

All of which promises to extend further the Evoque's success story: since it was launched in 2011, Land Rover has sold 270,000 models worldwide, making it the fastest-selling Land Rover of all time.

“The Range Rover Evoque has been an enormous success in the UK with its blend of bold design, luxury and compact versatility," Jeremy Hicks, Jaguar Land Rover UK managing director, said.

"Demand remains strong two years after the start of production, and with the introduction of the Autobiography Dynamic, customers have more choice and access to a new heightened level of agility.”
