Land Rover planning new Landy 22 | 01 | 2014

LAND ROVER HAS fuelled rumours of a new baby urban-style SUV by applying to trademark the
name ‘Landy’.

Ok, it's not the most inspiring of names for the new car, but it is the term of endearment used by generations of Land Rover owners when referring to their 'go-anywhere' vehicle.

Rumours continue to persist — ever since the appearance of the DC100 concept (pictured) — that Land Rover was planning to introduce a fashionable urban SUV based on the Evoque platform.

While company bosses continued to state that "no business case has been made for the car", the imminent arrival of the MkIII Mini, and the likelihood of a front-wheel drive BMW X1 and Audi Q1 crossover are expected to kickstart the project.

That being the case, the trademark application is intended to cover everything from vehicles
and associated accessories to clothing, scale
models and franchising for vehicle dealerships.
