Scots dealership wins top award 05 | 08 | 2014

A LANARKSHIRE CAR DEALER that has an excellent track record for winning awards is celebrating again after being named as Scotland's best franchised garage for the third time in the Motor Codes ‘Garage of the Year' competition.

W Livingstone — a family-run Seat dealership, which notched up 50 years of trading in 2011, and is based in New Edinburgh Road, Uddingston — is celebrating a hat-trick having also been crowned Scottish champion in 2013 and in 2011, when the Motor Codes competition was called Golden Garages.

"This is fantastic news, especially as it's the third time we've been named Scottish winner," managing director Robin Livingstone, the third generation of his family to run W Livingstone, said. "We have a great bunch of highly motivated staff whose main priority is always to provide the best possible customer experience.

"Our customers have rewarded us by voting in great numbers with some really fantastic comments. Reading them made me so proud of everything we have achieved over the last 53 years and has motivated all of us to keep delivering the great service that our customers deserve."

News of the ‘Garage of the Year' accolade has been warmly welcomed by staff at the dealership, which, having held a Seat franchise since 1991, is also Scotland's longest established Seat Dealership.

The Motor Codes ‘top 20' Garage of the Year winners are made up of 10 franchised main dealers and 10 independent garages, as nominated by customers of its 8000-strong garage network.

The garages which made the shortlist topped their regions following a month-long competition that generated more than 13,000 online reviews from garage customers. Seat was the most successful manufacturer as they secured four regional winners, more than any other competitor.

Motor Codes' online garage finder holds over 230,000 online reviews and it is this customer feedback that helps direct people to approved garages rather than unscrupulous traders.

Chris Mason, managing director of Motor Codes, sees Garage of the Year as a way of promoting those garages that consistently provide excellent customer service.

"Everybody shops online these days and it's no different when it comes to looking for a trustworthy garage," Mason said. "By putting themselves in the spotlight and being open to review, Motor Codes garages are helping to boost confidence. People can now make an informed decision about who to trust when it comes to spending on car servicing."

Motor Codes is the government-backed, self-regulatory body for the motor industry. Its voluntary membership of thousands of garages is committed to maintaining high standards throughout the new car sales process, administration of new car warranties and car service and repair.
