Porsche Macan image leaked 01 | 11 | 2013

PORSCHE MACAN IMAGES have been leaked ahead of its official unveiling in LA next week, and months ahead of it appearing in Scottish showrooms.

The image above, of what is clearly a production model, highlights of the Macan's line follow many of those of the iconic Porsche 911.

Not surprisingly, this production version more closely resembles the look of the Range Rover Evoque than an all-out, mudplugging SUV.

Set to go head-to-head with the Evoque, BMW X3 and Audi Q3, the Macan will be powered by a range of V6 engines when it goes on sale in Scotland next year: prices are expected to start around £36,000.

The base diesel will be a four-cylinder 190bhp 2.0-litre turbo unit, alongside a 220bhp 2.0-litre petrol. It's likely the petrol version will cover 0-62mph in around 7.5sec and continue to a max of 143mph.

    The range-topper will be the 395bhp, 3.6-litre V6 direct-injection turbocharged petrol. The range — which will also see a hybrid appear, probably in 2015 — will initially be complete by a 295bhp 3.6-litre V6 in the S, and a 250bhp 3.0-litre V6 in the Diesel S.
