Range Rover Sport photos 'leaked' 14 | 03 | 2013

TWELVE DAYS BEFORE it's officially unveiled on March 26, when it's driven through Manhattan on the eve of the New York Motor Show, photos of the all-new Range Rover Sport have been leaked online (see more leaked photos of the new Range Rover Sport).

Just days ago, the company issued an official teaser image, but the new leaked images — which appear to show the new car being prepped in a warehouse-type area — clearly show the new Sport.

Whether the guy photographed posing beside the car still has his job though is uncertain!

Initial facts are the new Sport shares its basic design DNA with the Range Rover, with the wing-mounted vents seen on the current car evolved into a larger scale.

What is also clear is that the car borrows design cues from the Range Rover Evoque.

“The all-new Range Rover Sport takes the model to another level," John Edwards, who is Land Rover’s global brand director, said.

"It is Land Rover’s most dynamic vehicle yet and showcases the best of British design, engineering and technological innovation.”

What is known about the new Range Rover Sport is that it's based on the same all-aluminium, bonded and riveted PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform as the MkIV Range Rover.

Expected to weigh around 300kg lighter than the current Sport, the new car will be built alongside the Range Rover at the company’s new PLA production line in Solihull, West Midlands.

The Sport though will be instantly identifiable from the Range Rover by dint of its "more sporting" styling, including a more sharply raked roofline, shorter rear overhang, deeper body sides and more aggressive treatment for the nose and tail.
