THIS IS THE first official teaser image of the all-new Range Rover Sport which will be driven through Manhattan, a day before the official opening of the New York Motor Show.

New York City is the model’s single biggest metropolitan market and the Sport is also currently Land Rover’s best-selling model in North America.

“The all-new Range Rover Sport takes the model to another level," John Edwards, who is Land Rover’s global brand director, said.

"It is Land Rover’s most dynamic vehicle yet and showcases the best of British design, engineering and technological innovation.”

Based on the same all-aluminium, bonded and riveted PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform as the MkIV Range Rover, the new Sport is expected to be around 300kg lighter than the current Sport.

When it is officially revealed, expect the new sportier Sport to have a more sharply raked roofline and shorter rear overhang. The new model will also boast deeper body sides and more aggressive treatment for the nose and tail.

Land Rover has already confirmed the new Sport will also come with the option of seven seats. It will also be available with a hybrid drivetrain.
