New 1.6 turbodiesel for next Insignia 20 | 06 | 2012

VAUXHALL WILL GIVE both its Insignia and Astra models a facelift in the next 12 months. And while the Astra will be shown at the Paris Motor Show in September, it's the improvements to the larger Insignia which are, perhaps, more important.

Not due to be seen until Geneva next March, the next generation Insignia will launch a new 1.6-litre turbodiesel.

The ground-up new design, replacing the venerable 1.7-litre unit across the Vauxhall range, will significantly reduce fuel both consumption and
CO2 emissions.

When it goes on sale in autumn 2013, the new Insignia is expected to also have a revised grille and redesigned front and rear bumpers. In addition, there's new-look headlamps and tail-lights that incorporate LED running lights.

And having made such a good job with the current model, when it was introduced in 2011, that changes under the skin are believed to be minor.

    Vauxhall Mokka starts at £16,995
