New Range Rover spied on Mull 02 | 08 | 2012

RANGE ROVER'S ALL-NEW fourth-generation flagship has been captured testing on the Isle of Mull, two months before the island hosts the annual Tunnock's Mull Rally.

The new model, which Range Rover has stated will be the most radical and technically advanced car in the brand’s history, will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Eleven years after the third-generation BMW-engineered model was launched, the new model's radical looks picks up on the sporty styling of the new Evoque.

While the exterior of the new range Rover has dropped a number of the original styling cues of the luxury SUV, the interior promises to be even more luxurious.

Wider and 25mm longer than the outgoing model, the 2013 Range Rover — which will see some models exceed the £100,000 barrier — will have an extra 125mm of rear legroom. The rear will also be accessed by larger doors.

It's also understood that Land Rover designers have managed to carve around half-a-tonne off the weight of the car, compared to the MkIII.

Engines are expected to be carried over from the current car, though a new petrol V6 might also be used in a plug-in hybrid version, previewed this year in the Range_e concept.
