McLaren eyeing Hondaposted in F111 | 03 | 2013

McLAREN IS UNDERSTOOD to be lining up a return to Honda power. It's believed the Woking team will switch to Honda from Mercedes in time for the 2015 season.

Though it has committed to honour its Mercedes contract for next season, the first year of the all-new 1.6-litre engine technology, it has hinted strongly it will return to Honda from 2015.

The McLaren-Honda partnership was the dominant force in F1 for five season between 1988-1992, yielding four drivers/constructors' championship doubles.

Honda, which most recently walked away from F1 when it sold its race team to Ross Brawn in 2009, has confirmed it plans to return to F1 solely as an engine supplier.

There is also no doubt the challenge of building a race-and championship-winning turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 powerplant will have genuinely interested the boffins at Honda.
