Di Resta reflects on 2012posted in F120 | 11 | 2012

SCOT PAUL DI RESTA heads to Interlagos this weekend for the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix aware that rain could add to the drama.

And after three successive races on fairly new circuits, he's looking forward to tackling one of the 'old-school' tracks as he bids to end his season with another point-scoring finish for Sahara Force India.

But before giving his thoughts on the Interlagos race, the 26-year-old from Batrhgate reflected on the 2012 Formula One season, including its highs and lows.

"After 19 of the 20 grands prix this season, I've scored 46 world championship points," Di Resta explained. "That's 19 more than last season, but it could easily have been much more.

"As a whole it's been a good year. For me the standout races are Bahrain and Singapore – races where everything came together.

"Unlike last year, when results improved as the season progressed, the second half of the campaign has been more mixed.

"When you look at the results on paper, it certainly doesn’t tell the whole story.

"For various reasons, some good results slipped away from us and we’ve had issues that held us back while we tried to understand them.

"The last race in Austin was looking very positive to begin with, but after my pitstop I just could not get the tyres to work. I’m hoping the conditions in Brazil will suit me better.

"I raced at Interlagos for the first time last year, and I have to say I enjoy the circuit. That said, it's quite tricky because of the undulating layout and there are some unusual corners.

"It’s also quite a tough track on your neck because of the anti-clockwise layout and the high number of left-hand corners.

"After three races on very new circuits, it will make a nice change to go back to one of the classic old-school tracks.

It’s a circuit that usually produces good racing and there’s also talk of rain, which would add another element into the mix. And hopefully that will all help me finish the season of with a good point-scoring result."
