Shedden confirmed at Honda for 2012posted in BTCC16 | 09 | 2011

FIFER GORDON SHEDDEN, as we revealed on Wednesday, has signed a new deal with Honda Racing. It means the 32-year-old from Dalgety Bay will again partner former champ, and current team-mate, Matt Neal in Honda's British Touring Car Championship team next season.

Shedden, who head into this weekend's triple-header leading the title race by one point from Neal, will drive Honda's new new Civic — currently being built to the BTCC’s latest Next Generation Touring Car regulations — in 2012.

"It's great to get the deal done and dusted before we head in to the crucial final three race meetings," Shedden, pictured with Neal and the all-new Honda Civic, admitted. "Now I can concentrate on making sure I do everything I can to win the driver's championship and help Honda retain the constructor's title."

And the Fifer's role within the team was praised by Dave Hodgetts, Managing Director of Honda (UK).

“Both Gordon and Matt have been fantastic ambassadors for Honda during this season, and we are delighted to have them racing for us in 2012," Hodgetts said.

“They will be behind the wheel of a race-prepared version of the new Honda Civic and we believe that will give us outstanding opportunities to further add to Honda’s already-bulging trophy cabinet. We’ve still got a job to finish this year, though.”
