Vauxhall confirms Astra prices 16 | 06 | 2015

VAUXHALL HAS CONFIRMED its new Astra will start at £15,295 when it goes on sale at Scottish dealerships in October.

Significantly, the new entry-level model — which will be built at Vauxhall’s manufacturing plant in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire — is a whopping £2200 less expensive than the outgoing model with a simplified range.

The new Astra range includes Design, Tech Line, Energy, SRi and Elite, with Nav versions of the SRi and Elite trims also available.

One of the highlights of the range is the 1.0-litre three-cylinder Turbo Start/Stop ecoFLEX model, which is priced from £15,995. Fitted with an Easytronic five-speed automatic transmission, the same model achieves a class-leading 96g/km CO2 emissions.

The range-topping 1.6-litre (200PS) is available in SRi trim priced from £20,435, while the diesel range includes the 1.6-litre ‘Whisper Diesel’ (110PS) Start/Stop ecoFLEX model — with prices starting at £17,495 — that achieves 91.1mpg and class-leading CO2 emissions of 82g/km (provisional).

Set to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, it will be available as a five-door hatchback, while a new Sports Tourer estate car will join the range in early 2016.

The Astra GTC will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future because it is far earlier in its life cycle than the hatch and estate.
