SCOTLAND'S MOST INNOVATIVE car dealership group, Peter Vardy, is to open a new CarStore in Dundee. The new development follows the runaway success of its state-of-the-art high-tech car supermarket at Braehead in Glasgow.
The massive new facility for quality pre-owned cars will be built on an 8.5 acre brownfield site on the Kingsway, just east of the Coupar Angus Road roundabout. It will open in the early part of 2017.
The announcement will mean a boost in high quality jobs for Dundee. When the young automotive retailer opened its Braehead complex in Glasgow in 2013, close to 1000 people applied for 70 posts.
The enormous project will also continue to change the way people buy their cars in Scotland. Like Glasgow, the Dundee CarStore will be designed to be a destination dealership, where people can take their time in comfortable surroundings to find the car of their dreams.
"After the success of CarStore Glasgow, and the warmth with which it was welcomed by the car-buying public, it is a natural progression to bring this offering to another city," Peter Vardy, chief executive of the fast-growing group, said.

"The site we have chosen in Dundee is close to one of the major routes through the city and will provide easy access for people from Tayside and the whole of the East of Scotland to enjoy the CarStore experience."
The exact scale of the Dundee project has still to be finalised, but the site in Glasgow stretches across 70,000 square feet and guests can choose from more than 500 cars, all displayed indoors in a heated showroom and ranging in price from £3000 to £30,000. Glasgow sold 3500 cars in its first year of operation, and set to break 4000 in 2015.
The Dundee CarStore, like Glasgow, will be fitted-out with a range of cutting-edge technological innovations aimed at enhancing the consumer’s car buying experience.
It is the latest initiative by Peter Vardy, who last year was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Entrepreneurial Scotland awards.
The Peter Vardy Group operates Vauxhall dealerships in Aberdeen, Perth, Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh, Motherwell and Dalgety Bay and five prestige dealerships selling Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche, BMW and Mini.
