Honda HR-V crossover returns 10 | 09 | 2014

HONDA HAS REVEALED the first images of its all-new HR-V compact crossover which will be unveiled officially at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Eight years after the original model went out of production, this new version has already been seen in Japan and other Asian markets as the Vezel.

Based on a similar platform to the current Civic and upcoming all-new Jazz, the new HR-V has its fuel tank sited under the front seats. And when it goes on sale in Scotland next summer, the HR-V will also have a clever rear seat arrangement, similar to that found in the Civic and Jazz.

That means a completely flat load bay — much lower than found with conventional folding seats — is created by folding the rear seats, including the seat squabs, forwards and downwards. Expect also the HR-V's bootspace to be larger than that found in rivals such as the Nissan Juke.

Honda is remaining tight-lipped about powerplants, but it's pretty safe to assume the company's excellent and frugal 1.6-litre diesel will make an appearance under the bonnet.
