Safety night boost for women 26 | 11 | 2014

A MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP in Dundee is holding a special event to ensure women feel safe in their vehicles this winter.

Autoecosse Mitsubishi has organised a Ladies’ Night, which will take place on Thursday, December 4, with the slogan “Women stay wise over winter”.

Technicians will be on hand to show females basic but important maintenance tasks, such as how to check tyre pressure and change a tyre, as well as top up the oil.

Vital advice will also be given on what to do if their vehicle breaks down and they are alone or with children, as well as general knowledge about driving in winter, snowy conditions and safety.

The event, which will take place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, will also have a buffet, entertainment, Christmas stalls and support from local radio station Wave 102. In addition, there will be a fundraising raffle, with one of the prizes being a two-night weekend stay (Friday and Saturday) at the five-star Fonab Castle Hotel at Pitlochry.

The Ladies’ Night is free, but attendees will be asked to make a donation to Help for Kids – a charity that supports vulnerable or disadvantaged local children and related causes. Women can just turn up on the evening – there’s no need to book a place.

“With winter drawing in, with its long, cold nights and bad weather, it’s vital that vehicles are kept in peak condition," Tim Hancock, dealer principal at the Kingsway East showroom, said.

"Vehicles are more reliable than ever these days, but they still need to be looked after properly, and there are simple things that any driver can do to help ensure everything is OK.

“Maintenance can seem daunting but it needn’t be, and we want to do all we can to ensure female drivers are confident about carrying out basic tasks to look after their vehicles and keep them running during what can be an inhospitable time of year, so that they in turn stay safe.”
