World debut for Skoda CitiJet 13 | 05 | 2014

SKODA WILL DEBUT its CitiJet convertible concept at the Volkswagen Wörthersee tuning festival later this month.

Based on the Citigo, the sporty two-seater has been created by apprentices at Skoda's design school. Finished in blue metallic paint and sporting 16 alloys, the concept also gets a rear spoiler and dual exhausts.

Power — perhaps not surprisingly — comes from a 74bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine which is already in the Citigo range. It's can reach 62mph from standstill in 13.9secs, and carries on to a ma of 109mph.

Based on the Citigo Sport, the CitiJet's cabin gets part-leather trim, with red and white accents for the dashboard. There's also bespoke floor mats, an upgraded stereo and an LED lighting system which responds to music.

The 16 Skoda apprentices, who have been working on the concept since November, were given free reign over the design.

The Wörthersee festival — which is traditionally used as a platform for the unveiling of numerous concept cars from within the VW Group — takes place from May 28-31.
