Scots dealer helps kids' charity 19 | 05 | 2014

A SCOTS MITSUBISHI dealership is backing a city-based children’s charity by sponsoring a golf day that could see someone win an L200 pick-up worth nearly £30,000.

Dundee-based Autoecosse Mitsubishi is throwing its weight behind the event at St Michael’s Golf Club near Leuchars. The Charity Golf Day will raise money for Help for Kids, which supports Dundee’s most sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

The event, on Friday, May 30, will see golf teams of four players taking part. Anyone who manages to get a hole in one will win a new Mitsubishi L200 Barbarian worth £29,200, courtesy of the generous dealership. Autoecosse has also made a donation to the charity.

"We started working with Help for Kids this year as it’s a brilliant charity that does such wonderful work, and we’re delighted to be supporting the golf day," Tim Hancock, general manager at Autoecosse Mitsubishi on Dundee's Kingsway East, said.

"We wanted to give something back into the community. Being a local business, we wanted to support a local good cause as opposed to a national one, to ensure the money is used locally."

The involvement of Autoecosse Mitsubishi was welcomed by Annemarie Smith, fundraising manager for Help for Kids'

"This is going to be a great day," she said. "I would like to express our thanks to Autoecosse for supporting our Charity Golf Day.

"In less than two years, Help for Kids has supported 6904 children in Dundee and the surrounding area, and the money raised from the golf day will allow Help for Kids to continue to help more of them."

This is the second year the charity has organised the golf day. It raised more than £3000 last year and hopes to top that amount this time round.
