Knockhill flies Air Ambulance flag 17 | 03 | 2014

KNOCKHILL HAS ADOPTED Scotland's charity-funded Air Ambulance as its main chosen charity for 2014.

The Air Ambulance provides a valuable rescue and patient transfer service for Scotland and since its launch in May 2013 has been involved in more than 200 emergency call-outs.

It costs approximately £30,000 a week to provide this life-saving service and it is funded entirely through Public donations.

"The Air Ambulance is the perfect charity for Knockhill to adopt," Knockhill managing director Jillian Shedden, who visited the helicopter at its base at Perth Airport (pictured), said today, "and we are keen to host a number of fundraising activities for them this season.

"We will have the traditional can-shaking at events, but we also want to be more creative and host a number of higher profile activities at key events, such as the at the British Superbikes event on June 27-29."

The new commitment by Knockhill — Scotland's national motorsport centre — to the Scottish Air Ambulance was welcomed by Sally Cameron, SCAA head of fundraising.

"SCAA is delighted that Knockhill has adopted us as its Charity of the Year," she said. "We rely on the support of the corporate sector, along with trusts, foundations and the communities we serve to keep us flying.

"We look forward to working with the staff and customers of Knockhill over the coming year."
