Facelifted Disco revealed 03 | 09 | 2013

LAND ROVER, HOT on the heels of the new Range Rover Sport, has given its tried-and-tested Discovery a new lease of life with a raft of modifications.

Updates to the facelifted seven-seat Disco include a subtly revised exterior look, a cleaner, more efficient diesel engine, and a range of new equipment.

Key for the Scottish market are the improvements to the 252bhp 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine. The powerplant now gets stop-start technology which lowers the CO2 emissions from from 230g/km to 213g/km and improves economy from 32.1mpg to 35.3mpg.

The city centre 'mudplugger' also gets something of a style makeover with a new front grille, front bumper and front headlight design. There's also a new LED daytime running light signature, plus the option of new alloys.

Hawkeye Disco followers will also spot the new Discovery badging — in the same style as the Range Rover models — on the bonnet in place of Land Rover.

The significance of this change as it's the first step in Land Rover pushing the Discovery name into a brand in its own right, as is already the case with Range Rover. Worth highlighting here that the next generation Freelander, due next year, will join the Discovery family.

Odre books are already open for the new Discovery in all Land Rover's Scottish dealerships, with first deliveries expected in November.
