    JOHN CLARK MOTOR Group (JCMG) has appointed David Holmes as non-executive director.

    Holmes — who joined the business at the start of October and will serve for an initial period of two years — managed his own BMW and Mini dealership between 2005 and 2010. For more than 10 years, he was also with Sytner Group in management and dealer principal roles.

    During his time at Sytner, Holmes served on the main board as communications director, responsible for IT, training, HR and marketing. Following that, he became the divisional managing director for Sytner’s Daimler Chrysler division.

    JCMG — which represents Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mini, Nissan, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen, BMW motorcycles and VW commercials — recently reported a 15% increase in the group’s turnover to £354 million. Sales in September rose by 36% to more than 3000 units.

    “David’s dealership and manufacturer background will enable him to contribute a comprehensive insight at board level and thereby influence our future strategy," John Clark, JCMG chairman and managing director, said.

    “The skills, expertise and experience he acquired will be invaluable. It means he will not only be able to empathise with the challenges and opportunities our dealer teams face, but will also assist with the development of solutions.

    “His vast industry experience, depth of knowledge and understanding mean he will add value; his contribution will be extremely important as we continue to develop and grow the business.”

    JCMG — which operates sites in Aberdeen, Cupar, Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy and Perth — purchased four dealerships from Pendragon and is current;y undergoing an £8m investment programme at a number of the group’s dealerships.
