RENAULT HAS CONFIRMED its new Clio Renaultsport 200 EDC will start at £18,995, which pitches it directly against the similarly powerful Peugeot 208 GTI . It is though £2000 more expensive than the latest Ford Fiesta ST.

Renault will make two models available in the UK: the 'standard' car, and the Lux. The cars are available to order from April 8, with first cars due in arrive in UK showrooms in June.

With additional equipment including an upgraded Arkamys stereo, climate control, electric rear windows and Renault's R-Link infotainment system, the Lux adds around £1000 to the price of the car.

Both models also have the option of a £450 Cup chassis pack, which adds a 15% increase in chassis stiffness, a 3mm suspension drop, red brake calipers and Dunlop Sport Maxx TT tyres.

A host of further options are available for both models, including 18in alloys at £185 (standard with the Cup Pack); metallic paint from £495 (with Flame Red at £595 and the iconic Liquid Yellow hue costing £1300); and second-generation Renaultsport Monitor telemetry system for £95 (Lux models only).
