Hyundai reveals new ix35 27 | 08 | 2013

HYUNDAI HAS CONFIRMED its facelifted ix35 will start at £16,995 when it enters UK dealerships on September 1. The range will rise to £27,755.

The 1.6GDI 2WD manual lowers the new version's entry-level price to a level lower than that of the previous generation. Since the ix35 went on sale in the UK in 2010, 30,000 units have been sold.

The revised compact SUV will feature a number of new standard equipment features, in addition to several new optional specification choices, several of which are available for the first time on ix35.

Trims for the New Hyundai ix35 have been realigned and now feature five clearly defined specification levels: entry-level S, mid-range SE and SE Nav, and two range-topping trims called Premium and Premium Panorama.

The latest ix35 retains the 1.6-litre GDi petrol and 1.7-litre and 2.0-litre CRDi engines, but for the latest model year, Hyundai will now offer Intelligent Stop & Go (ISG) as an option on the 1.7-litre CRDi.

Further changes to the engine line-up include the introduction of a six-speed automatic transmission on the 2.0-litre 136PS 4WD model.

This will replace the current 181PS unit and bring benefits of improved fuel consumption (41.5mpg combined versus 39.3mpg combined previously) and lower CO2 (179g/km versus 189g/km previously).

The range-topping 136PS 2.0 CRDi 4WD Automatic now boasts lower BIK rates when compared with the outgoing 181PS — now 30% and 31% for SE/SE Nav and Premium respectively.

The updated ix35 also boasts a healthy range of standard new equipment features, including LED Daytime running lights and LED positioning lights (as seen on the new generation Santa Fe), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (Low Line and High Line) and Trailer Stability Assist.

Inside, the new ix35's cabin, there's also an upgraded audio and navigation system units for each corresponding trim level.

Hyundai has also ensured customers can further personalise their cars by choosing option packs, such as the £795 Safety & Comfort Pack 1, or Safety & Comfort Pack 2 at £995.

For an additional £1000 on each corresponding SE model, buyers can choose SE Nav, which comes with satnav with TMC, rearview parking camera, upgraded seven-speaker sound system and sharkfin antenna.

“The ix35 is one of the fastest-selling models in our product range with just under 30,000 units sold in the UK since launch in late 2010," Tony Whitehorn, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor UK, said.

"The New ix35 will continue this trend as it offers retail and corporate buyers a stylish, practical and safe vehicle that is equally at home in the city as it is out of it.

"With the latest enhancements, the new ix35 will deliver an even greater level of value-for-money in this popular segment of the car market.”
