Skoda shows rally-bred Citigo 21 | 05 | 2012

IF YOU'VE PERCEIVED Skoda's new Citigo simply as a city centre scoot-about, think again. This is Skoda's concept of a rally-bred version of the titchy car.

The Skoda Citigo Rally gets a fairly drastic exterior makeover, which includes a new front-end with a large air intake, wide spoiler and a new bumper.

There's also a new bonnet, and the rally version also gets a central roof-mounted air intake.

Wide, flared wheel arches house low-profile rally tyres which are wrapped round 18in alloys. The rear gets a central exhaust and a rear wing which, according to Skoda, actually produces downforce.

Power? Skoda's is remaining tighlipped about it, but hints that "it takes its dynamics" from other Skoda rally cars including the Fabia S2000. That's the car which dominated last year's RallyScotland, the penultimate round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
