Fiat reveals 'extended' 500 07 | 03 | 2012

FIAT IS TO ADD an extended version to its 500 range. The new 500L — the 'L' stands for 'Large' — made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. It will enter Scottish showrooms at the start of next year.

The 'Big Brother' 500 is 594mm longer, 153mm wider and 172mm taller than the standard Fiat 500 hatchback: it's 4140mm long, 1780mm wide and 1660mm high.

Fiat says the 500L, which will be built at Fiat’s Serbian plant in Kragujevac, offers ‘MPV passenger space combined with the feel of a small SUV on the road.’

There will be a choice of two petrol and one diesel engine from launch: these include the two-cylinder TwinAir and 1.4-litre engines, plus a 1.3 MultiJet II oil-burner.

New Fiat Punto to start at £9990
