Aston launches £400k V12 Zagato 07 | 03 | 2012

HERE'S SOMETHING TO get you drooling: the new Aston Martin V12 Zagato, shown at the Geneva Motor Show. Built to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first collaboration between Aston Martin and Italian design house, Zagato, the newcomer will set you back £400,000.

But here's the good news. Only 150 examples of the hand built car are scheduled for production.

And there's more good news. It weighs 100kg less than the V12 Vantage, the model on which it's based. It will also accelerate past the 62mph mark from standstill in just 4.2secs, and will carry on to an eye-watering 190mph.

Each V12 Zagato takes 2000 man hours to build: 100 of those are needed just to apply the paint, which is available in one of four unique colours — Scintilla Silver, Alloro Green, Alba Blue or Diavolo Red.

Cost? Well in the UK it will set you back a cool £330,000 … before tax! Add on what Her Majesty's tax office will pocket, and you hit close to £405,000.

Surely no coincidence then that the Aston Martin V12 Zagato will make its debut in showroom-ready trim at the Kuwait Concours d'Elegance next week. Production is due to begin September.
