Green light for DC100 Concept 06 | 04 | 2012

DON'T BE SURPRISED to see the Land Rover DC100 Concept become a reality on the streets and offloads country tracks across Scotland. Land Rover bosses are set to give the green light to the new model which would instantly become one of the biggest sellers in the burgeoning baby SUV market.

It's an interesting development for the DC100, which was originally conceived simply as a design concept to preview how the Defender could evolve.

But the overwhelmingly positive response to the 'concept' has led Land Rover bosses to identify it should have its own niche in the market.

If, as is distinctly possible — and probable — the DC100 is built on the Range Rover Evoque platform, it would measure just 4.3m long. That would put it directly against the Mini Countryman, Skoda Yeti and Nissan Juke.

Now, all three are solid products, but given the choice — and for around £20k — which would you rather have: a Skoda, Nissan or Land Rover?

When, rather than if, the DC100 enters the market, it will instantly become the new entry-level model into the Land Rover range. It will also form part of what the company calls its leisure-oriented range.

Quite when Land Rover bosses will give the official green light to the DC100 isn't known, but one thing's for sure, it's definitely going to happen.
