Nissan reveals details of GT-R 2012 08 | 11 | 2011
NISSAN'S SCOTTISH DEALERS would be excused for staring at their little Micra and wondering why it isn't a GT-R … especially after the Japanese manufacturer elegised details and photos of its 2012 GT-R.
The revised model — which will scorch from standstill to 62pmh in just 2.8secs — boasts more power, a revised chassis, new suspension and refined transmission.
And while Nissan also confirmed it will introduce a hardcore track version for the UK, the 'standard' car sees power from the turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 engine increased from 525bhp to 542bhp.
The muscle car's six-speed dual-clutch transmission has also been refined and made quieter, and it will accelerate on to a maximum — where legal — of 196mph.
Fuel economy has also been improved … but don't hold your breath! It shifts from 23.5mpg to … 24mpg. Whoopee!!! CO2 figure? 275g/km.

The 2012 model also benefits from a newly-developed asymmetric suspension which Nissan says compensates for greater weight on the driver’s side in RHD models. There's also enhanced transmission ‘feel’ and a stronger body for extra rigidity and better handling.
Inside the cabin, changes include blue lighting inside the tachometer ring to match the shift position indicator light, a rear view camera as standard on all models and new Bose sound system upgrades.
Full details of the track version have still to be released, as has the price: they're expected in December. Fairly safe to suggest though, that when order books open next month, you'll be looking at around £73,500.
