New Merc B-class image leaked  24 | 08 | 2011

AS NEXT MONTH'S Frankfurt Motor Show edges ever closer, so the traffic of leaks, hints, whispers and releases becomes faster and more intense. The latest pic to leak on to the internet is the all-new Mercedes B-class.

Now whether by mistake or — most likely — intention, the 'leaked' image has grabbed our attention.

Due to enter Merc's Scottish showrooms next April, the all-new five-seater has been thoroughly re-engineered; the result is extra interior space, greater refinement, better economy and improved safety credentials.

While solid details remain sketchy, it's known the new B-class will be powered by a family of 1.8-litre turbo diesel powerplants when it's launched; there will be choice of 107bhp with 189lb/ft torque, and 134bhp with 221lb/ft.

There will also be a range of all-new 1.6-litre petrol-powered versions, led by the 121bhp with 147lb/ft, plus the 154bhp with 184lb/ft.
