Shedden bags Rock points haulposted in BTCC15 | 09 | 2013

FIFER GORDON SHEDDEN heads into the penultimate rounds of the British Touring Car Championship in a fortnight confident he can retain his title.

The 34-year-old from Dalgety Bay heads to Silverstone second in the title race, just 30 points behind leader Andrew Jordan.

"I'm quietly confident we can overhaul that gap," Shedden said today after finishing second, fourth and fifth in the latest triple-header at Rockingham.

"We knew Rockingham wasn't going to be one of our best weekends, so to come away with a podium and a big haul of points is great.

"Next up is Silverstone, then we've the final triple-header at Brands Hatch, which will definitely suit my Honda.

"With 25 points for the win, there's still 150 points to be decided in the six remaining races, so it's definitely doable. But it's going to be tough."

Jordan powered his Honda to two victories at Rockingham, with the other race win going to the Audi of Rob Austin.

The championship though is set for a thrilling finale. Former Knockhill race instructor, Irishman Colin Turkington, is third in his BMW, just three points behind Shedden, with the Scot's Honda team-mate Matt Neal fourth, a further point adrift.

In the Porsche Carrera Cup, Kirkcaldy's Rory Butcher won both races in his Celtic Speed Porsche 911, easing himself into third in the championship.
