Di Resta to race Porscheposted in POR12 | 01 | 2013

FORMULA ONE ACE Paul di Resta's younger brother, Stefan, is being lined up to contest the Porsche Carrera Cup with Scots sportscar team Celtic Speed.

The 22-year-old from Bathgate will partner Kirkcaldy's Rory Butcher in the all-Scots team.

And while Butcher — who won a number of races in the Porsche championship last year, will be pushing for the overall title — Di Resta will target the Pro-Am1 title.

Di Resta, a multiple karting champion, made his car racing debut last year in the Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper Cup.

Now though he is poised to graduate to the Celtic Speed team and tackle the ultra-competitive Porsche Carrera Cup which forms part of the British Touring Car Championship package.

"We're definitely talking with Stefan, who will be an excellent addition to the team," Celtic Speed boss Tommy Dreelan said today.

"We're not in the position yet to make an official announcement, but I'd expect that to happen in the next few days."

The team, currently based in St Cyrus near Montrose, has also exploring plans for 2014 which would see it graduate to the Porsche Supercup.

The pinnacle of Porsche racing, the Supercup races support the grands prix in the Formula One World Championship.

Celtic Speed is also understood to be talking to a third driver to race the team's final car in the Carrera Cup this year.

Paul di Resta, meanwhile, was at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham today.

The 26-year-old will debut his 2013 Sahara Force India F1 racer at Silverstone on February 1.
