VW says 'No' to F1posted in F110 | 05 | 2012

VOLKSWAGEN'S NEW MOTORSPORT boss Jost Capito has confirmed VW will not enter Formula One — as either an engine supplier or a full constructor — stating simply: "It's not on the radar."

The confirmation comes three years after the German giant admitted it was "evaluating" an entry after 2014, by which time the sport's engine rules will have changed.

But today Capito stated VW's motorsport goals remain focused on the World Rally Championship.

Asked whether F1 was being considered, Capito stated: "Definitely not. At the moment we don't even think about it because we're thinking WRC.

"I've got my hands full with the WRC right now and we have to focus on that. This is the very much the main motorsport programme for us and the board is watching it very closely. I think that's what we have to deliver."

VW will enter the WRC for a full campaign in 2013, after gaining experience this year by fielding a pair of S2000-spec Skodas.
