Bogie dominates Snowmanposted in SRC18 | 02 | 2012

TRIPLE SCOTTISH CHAMP David Bogie conquered "the worst conditions" he had ever competed in to win the opening round of the Scottish Championship, the aptly-named Snowman Rally.

With blizzard conditions sweeping the Highland forest stages north of Inverness, the 24-year-old from Dumfries survived a number of scary moments to seal back-to-back Snowman wins.

"Those were definitely the worst conditions I have ever competed in," Bogie, who also won the British Rally Championship last year in his Mitsubishi Evo IX, said today after returning to rally HQ.

"The afternoon stages had a lot of snow on them, and it was all we could do to keep the car on the road at times.

"To be honest, we had a couple of big moments which easily could have finished our rally there and then. I think everyone who finished should get a medal.

"And hats off to the organisers and volunteer marshals who braved the conditions to ensure the event went ahead. They're the guys who make sure this is the best rally of the year."

Bogie, fastest through four of the day's six stages, eventually cruised to victory — despite his car suffering with a 'mystery' misfire all day — by 68secs ahead of the Mitsubishi Evo VI of Mike Faulkner (Kirtlebridge). Carlisle's Peter Taylor was third, a further two minutes back in his Ford.
