Butcher back in Porsche actionposted in POR10 | 08 | 2012

FIFER RORY BUTCHER and his Celtic Speed team roar back into action this weekend when they tackle the Porsche Carrera Cup double-header at Snetterton.

After the seven-week 'summer' break, the 25-year-old from Kirkcaldy is hoping to pick up where he left off last time out at Croft.

"That was pretty much the perfect weekend, winning both races from pole position, and setting fastest laps in both races," Butcher, currently third in the championship, said today.

"Snetteron though is a completely different challenge. To be honest, I struggled there a bit last year.

"But the important thing is, every track we've returned to this season, we've been faster than we were last season, so hopefully that trend will continue."

Butcher competed in the Porsche Supercup race, part of the support package for the F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone last month.

And the Scot shook down the Celtic Speed Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car during a private test session at Knockhill five days ago.

"It was good to get rid of the cobwebs," he laughed, "but more importantly to get used to the steel brakes after we used ceramics in the Supercup race.

"The main target this weekend is to get qualifying right, and give us the chance of being competitive in both races, and coming away with a good haul of championship points."
