Shedden fired-up for BTCC shoot-outposted in BTCC02 | 10 | 2011

FIFER GORDON SHEDDEN head to the final triple-header shoot-out for the British Touring Car Championship locked in a five-way battle for the title.

After a frustrating outing at the penultimate rounds at Brands Hatch, the 32-year-old from Dalgety Bay is tied second in the championship, five points behind his Honda Racing team-mate Matt Neal.

The Scot though is delighted to have already helped Honda secure the BTCC Manufacturers/Constructors title, and the HiQ Teams’ Trophy.

Shedden’s second place in the final race at Brands was his highlight of the weekend after he had recovered from a tyre problem in the opening race.

Like his team-mate Neal, the Scot battled back into the top 10 in race two before leaping to the front of the field in the third race of the weekend to snatch his podium place.

    Strong entry-list for RallyScotland

“Winning the main titles for Honda was our primary focus this season and we knew a good weekend at Brands Hatch would make it possible,” Shedden said.
“It was a disappointing start to the weekend with the tyre problem. But we got some salvation by securing the two trophies.

This is the hardest championship to win in the UK and the Honda Civic has lifted the major titles – you can’t get a better endorsement than that.
“The drivers’ championship is going to be a battle between the five guys still in with a chance but Matt and I know we have a race-winning car underneath us. Let’s hope that we can add to the collection of silverware at Silverstone.”
