Di Resta targets pointsposted in F113 | 10 | 2011

AFTER THE DISAPPOINTMENT of Japan, where the Safety Car wrecked his race strategy, resulting in him finishing 12th and out of the points, Bathgate's Paul di Resta is back in action again this weekend in Korea.

It's another new track for the 25-year-old Scot to learn but he's quietly confident his Force India VJM04 will be well-suited to the track, and, as he told Scotcars' Jim McGill, he's looking forward to getting back in amongst the points.

"We're into that period of the season when the races come thick and fast," Di Resta explained, "and we've little time to rest before we're into the next grand prix.

"There's no denying we left Japan feeling a little disappointed, simply because we didn't convert our strong qualifying and race strategy into points.

"The appearance of the Safety Car came at a time when we were pushing to open the gap on our rivals, but as soon as it came out our strategy was ruined and it was difficult to realise the full potential of our strategy.

"But we'll take it on the chin and look to fight back in Korea.

"I'm also, thankfully, beginning to feel a bit better. I had a croaky throat and was just feeling generally under the weather right through the Japan Grand Prix build-up and race weekend. Hopefully I'll be much nearer to being 100% this weekend.

Dario Franchitti not thinking about IndyCar title

"The track at Yeongam in Korea is another new circuit for me to learn. In fact not only is it the third straight track that I've had no previous experience on, but I haven't raced on any of the remaining tracks on the calendar this season.

"I’ve only done half a day in the simulator driving the Yeongam track, so there’s lots for me to get to grips with.

"I walked the track last year, but there's only so much you can glean from that; to get the full experience you obviously need to be in the Force India race car. It’s another technical lap with some quite distinctive sectors and different characteristics.

"There are some slower, more technical parts to the lap in the first sector, which should play to our strengths. The second and third sectors are high-speed and have a nice flow. Also, Pirelli are bringing the soft and super soft tyres, which is a combination that tends to work quite well for us.

"What is clear is that we have inherent pace in the car and we just need to keep delivering it. We've proved in the second half of the season how fast and reliable the car is; now we need to get back to scoring points, and hopefully we'll achieve that this weekend."
