SCOTLAND'S LEADING SPORTSCAR racer Allan McNish today topped the timesheets in the eight-hour, rain-affected opening practice for this weekend's Zhuhai Six Hour sportscar endurance race in China.
The 41-year-old double Le Mans 24-Hours winner from Dumfries headed the near 30-car field with a best lap time of 1min 31.196secs — 0.633sescs ahead of the second fastest car.
Heavy rain during the morning preceded changeable weather conditions in which the McNish/Kristensen Audi used wet tyres throughout the day.
McNish partners Tom Kristensen in their turbo diesel-engined Audi R18 TDI in the seventh and final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup hoping to sign off on a high in China after a disappointing, and frustrating season.
