Fifer Jonny Adam gets Aston GT driveposted in GT05 | 03 | 2011

    FIFER JONNY ADAM will switch from the British Touring Car Championship to the British GT Championship after signing a new deal to race an Aston Martin for the 2011 season.

    The 26-year-old former Seat Cupra Champion from Kirkcaldy impressed on his debut season in the BTCC in 2009 but was forced to sit-out last year due to a lack of sponsorship.

    This year though, the talented you Scot returns to action driving the Beechdean Motorsport Aston Martin DBRS9 with Andrew Howard.

    “We tried to do BTCC but we couldn’t get the funding,” Adam, who won on his sports car debut in 2010 at Knockhill behind the wheel of a Ginetta G50 Cup car, explained. “It’s good to be back and I’m excited to be doing British GT.

     “I shouldn’t have too many problems getting used to the car. There are a lot of new cars so it will be a tough year, but I can’t see why we can’t challenge for regular podiums and finish in the top three or four in the championship.”

    Adam will test the Aston Martin at Silverstone later this week.
