Highlander Lewis tops GP3 timesheetsposted in MSPOR01 | 06 | 2011

HIGHLANDER LEWIS WILLIAMSON topped the timesheets at the end of the first day of the mid-season GP3 test at the Hungaroring in Hungary.

The Golspie 21-year-old powered his MW Arden racer to the fastest time in the improving conditions in the afternoon clocking 1min 38.330secs, 0.132s quicker than the Status Grand Prix car of the more experienced English racer Alexander Sims.

"I'm very happy with that performance today," Williamson admitted afterwards. "The whole team worked tirelessly today to ensure we had the fastest car in the pitlane; I'm just pleased I was able to go out there and deliver the times we wanted."

Highland Arena-backed Williamson and the rest of the GP3 field return to the Hungaroring tomorrow for the second and final day of the test.
