Ambassador Di Restaposted in F127 | 01 | 2011

BATHGATE'S PAUL DI RESTA was not only confirmed as a Force India grand prix driver at the announcement in Glasgow, but the 24-year-old was also named as Whyte & Mackay’s new Global Brand Ambassador.

Whyte & Mackay whisky is just part of the global drinks empire owned by Force India boss, Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya, and Di Resta's ambassadorial role will see him raise the profile of the whisky and support a number of exciting projects throughout the coming year.

"It's fantastic to fly the flag not only for Scotland, but for Whyte & Mackay around the world," Di Resta said today. "It's great to know I've got such spirited Scottish support right behind me as I start my Formula One racing career." And Di Resta — who was joined at the launch by team-mates Adrian Sutil and Nico Hulkenberg — was welcomed by John Beard, Whyte & Mackay chief excutive.

"Whyte & Mackay is a proud supporter of the Force India team and as a Scotch whisky brand we delighted that a Scotsman will be behind the wheel of one of the cars for the coming F1 season," Beard said.

"We look forward to working closely with Paul in both his role as Whyte & Mackay Global Ambassador and Force India driver. Whyte & Mackay wish Paul, Adrian, Nico and the rest of the Force India team the best of luck for the 2011 F1 season."
