Dominant win for Fifer Roryposted in POR02 | 04 | 2011

FIFER RORY BUTCHER got his debut season in the Porsche Carrera Cup ProAm1 Championship off to the perfect start at Brands Hatch today. The 24-year-old from Dunfermline not only dominated his class, but the Celtic Speed team-leader finished an impressive eighth overall.

"Yeh, I'm seriously chuffed with that," Butcher (pictured centre), who started 10th on the 25-car grid and eventually finished 4.195secs ahead of his nearest ProAm1 rival, said afterwards.

"That was pretty awesome. I got a super start and I'd moved up to ninth pretty quickly. After that it was a case of settling into a good, steady rhythm and maintaining my pace.

"The car was brilliant, and I have to say thanks to everyone at Celtic Speed. I was pretty nervous before the start of my first race here, but having won in the past in Formula Fords at Brands, I knew once I got into the race I'd be ok.

"Now though we have to turn our attention to the second race tomorrow, and hopefully we can repeat the success and win both ProAm1 rounds."

There was further success for the Montrose-based Celtic Speed team when Butcher's team-mate George Brewster won the ProAm2 class. The Edinburgh racer, 15th overall, finished 0.462secs ahead of his nearest ProAm2 rival Steve Parish.
