Bogie bids for four-in-a-rowposted in RSCOT01 | 04 | 2011

SCOTS RALLY ace David Bogie bids to win his fourth successive event of the season when he starts tomorrow's second round of the British Rally Championship, the Bulldog International in North Wales.

The 24-year-old from Dumfries, who won the opening round last month in Bournemouth, has also claimed victory in the first two rallies in the Scottish Championship.

"Yeh, it's been a pretty perfect start to the season so far," Bogie, who will again be partnered in his Mitsubishi Evo IX by Hawick co-driver Kevin Rae, admitted today.

"Three wins out of three is far better than we'd ever dreamed of, but it's important we continue the form we've shown into the Bulldog. We suffered last year with the car which was down on power, so hopefully we'll have a bit more luck this weekend."

Bogie, the double Scottish champ but looking for his first British title, heads in the 10 forest stages near Welshpool knowing he faces the stiffest competition from young Welshman Tom Cave in his Mitsubishi Evo X.

The 19-year-old from Aberdovey, like Bogie, has won since the opening round of the British Championship taking a class win on the Malcolm Wilson Rally and outright victory on the Mid Wales Stages .

While it's expected Bogie and Cave will be the two to battle it out for outright victory — they finished 1-2 in the opening round — Duns-based Euan Thorburn is also determined to turn his frustrating season round.

"We've really been pushing David hard in both the Scottish and the British rallies this year before we've been hit with technical problems," Thorburn explained after completing the final preparations to his Evo IX.

"We just missed out on a podium in Wales last year, so we're hoping to go at least one step better this year. But we'll definitely be going flat-out for the win."
