As you would expect, the subtle styling tweaks to the Tourer mirror those which first appeared on the Mazda6 saloon, when it debuted in Los Angeles at the end of 2017.

Externally there’s a new mesh grille and chrome detailing around the car’s new-look LED headlights, but it’s in the cabin where the big changes are. (Related: Roadtest — Mazda6 2.2 SkyActiv Sport Nav diesel)

In addition to new seats, new tech and new switchgear, there’s also  a simpler looking dashboard design which is now dominated by an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Tourer is also available with an optional seven-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster.

Mazda has yet to confirm the engine range for both the Mazda6 saloon and Tourer, but it’s expected to include updated versions of the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines currently found in the range. The Japanese carmaker has though promised enhanced performance and efficiency.

Mazda has also tweaked the Tourer’s chassis, bidding to boost the car’s comfort and agility by altering the suspension setup. There’s also the first appearance of Mazda’s new i-ACTIVSENSE safety and assistance tech, in addition to a 360-degree top-down camera.

Geneva will also see the European debut of the Mazda VISION COUPE and Mazda KAI CONCEPT, as well as showcasing Mazda's revolutionary SKYACTIV-X next-generation petrol engine.
