Renault Koleos starts at £27,500 08 | 05 | 2017

RENAULT’S ALL-NEW Koleos SUV is now available to order from Scottish dealerships, with prices starting from £27,500. First deliveries are scheduled for the summer.

The large five-seat SUV — which is set to rival the Kia Sorento — is offered in two trim levels and comes with a choice of two dCi diesels: a 129bhp 1.6 with front-wheel drive (57.6mpg/128g/km), and a 173bhp 2.0-litre with four-wheel drive (50.4mpg/148g/km).

The Koleos shares much of its mechanical structure with the Nissan X-Trail, and the 1.6-litre dCi diesel is expected to be the biggest seller, mated to either a six-speed manual or an X-Tronic automatic gearbox.

The range starts with the Dynamique S Nav, which still comes with plenty of kit as standard, including a panoramic sunroof, part-leather upholstery, 18in alloys, dual-zone climate control, and a seven-inch R-Link2 infotainment system featuring sat-nav and Apple CarPlay.

Next-up is the £29,800 Signature Nav which adds larger 19in alloys, LED headlights, a full leather interior, an 8.7-inch display and an electrically-powered tailgate.

Prices rise to £34,200 for a top-spec 4WD auto model, and the option list includes Bose sound system (£600), metallic paint (£545) and hands-free parking (£350).

Sitting above Renault’s other SUVs, the Captur and the Kadjar, the new Koleos takes on the French car maker’s new family face with C-shaped LED headlights merging into the large, chrome-slated front grille.

With 213mm of ground clearance, the car, according to Renault, has a ‘real all-terrain ability’. It also has a pretty cavernous boot, swallowing 624-litres of kit; that’s 39 litres larger more than a Hyundai Santa Fe.

Fold the rear seats, and the stowage increases to 1690-litres, plus there’s an extra 35 litres of storage space elsewhere in the cabin, including a whopping 11-litres in the glovebox.

Safety, as you would expect, features heavily in the new Koleos, with Lane Departure Warning, Active Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition and Tiredness Detection all available. Buyers can also add front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and Automatic High/Low Beams.
