Fiat reveals 500L facelift 24 | 05 | 2017
FIAT HAS UNVEILED its facelifted 500L, which boasts 40% new parts and a subtle tweaking of the external styling. There are still three variants, but Fiat has renamed them Urban, Cross and Wagon. (Related: Fiat Fullback Cross gets attitude)
The range starts with the 94bhp 1.4 16V Urban model in Popstar trim, which is available to order now from Scottish dealers. Prices start at £16,195, with first deliveries scheduled for September.
The standard car is the Urban, while Cross — which replaces the previous Trekking trim — is a more off-road friendly version with added ground clearance and styling tweaks. The range-topper isthe seven-seat extended Wagon, which replaces the MPW.
Across the range there’s now automatic emergency braking, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto amongst the most notable of additions of options. There’s also a range of completely new interiors.
The Cross — which sits 25mm higher than its siblings, and benefits from a raft of rugged exterior trim, including skidplates and cladding — also allows the driver to select from three drive modes, Normal, Traction+ and Gravity Control.
Versatility and space are the key focus points in the seven-seat Wagon: Fiat claims 1500 configurations are available for the car’s interior. The Wagon also gets the the largest bootspace in the new 500L range.
At launch there’s a new range of overhauled powerplants.
The 1.4-litre 16V and TJet petrol units provide 94bhp and 118bhp respectively, while the petrol range is completed by the 104bhp Twinair two-cylinder. The two diesels — a 1.3-litre 94bhp and 118bhp 1.6-litre Multijet — remain in the range, and are Euro 6 compliant.
